Welcome Chef Mohammed Nabi & Family from Bangladesh!
This wonderful family is an example of an "overlap" between our two programs. They came to us through "Table Time" -- our drop-in program that has invested significant support getting to know this family and help them navigate life in their new country.
They came to the U.S. through the refugee resettlement program in 2024, and have had a difficult road so far. Our Table Time community resource navigators and volunteers have been instrumental in helping them get our of a stint of homelessness, work on English, create resumes, apply for jobs, and much, much more in partnership with Manzanita House, Spokane Schools, and other local resources. Recently Mohammed was proud to share with us that he got 100% on his English Level 3 exam at SCC! During this season helping the family, they have generously shared their wonderful, full-flavored Bangladeshi-style biryani (a delicious seasoned rice dish with chicken or vegetables that has specific flavor for each region it is from). It's so good, we're excited to move forward with involving them in the chef program, working hard to get them set up with everything they need to be prepared and in compliance with the health dept, etc.
Mohammed Nabi has a very kind and gentle presence, and we're so thankful for him and his family being involved with us here at Feast. Thank you for your support, which allows these stories to happen every day in the Feast community.
