Volunteer

Join a diverse group of Spokane community members as we work together to create and maintain this unique new place for former refugees and immigrants to share culture and flourish! Feast volunteers typically engage in two ways:

(1) Helping Feast Chef Partners safely and efficiently serve food in our community-supported restaurant or occasionally at special catering events. A food worker card and safety training is required. A typical fun and fast-paced shift is 2.5 hours, and includes a free meal at the end!

(2) Providing more in-depth support through our Table Time program. This drop-in program uses the Feast dining room to provide basic support and community resource navigation open to any member of the immigrant and former refugee communities. This requires more in-depth training, orientation, and background checking.

Girish’s Story

One of the best things about Team Feast is the fact that all are invited to the table -- or in some cases, all are invited to come serve tables! That’s how Girish invests in Feast’s mission as one of our front-of-house volunteers. He has never worked as a server before, but when he learned about how Feast World Kitchen works as a community-supported restaurant, he wanted to jump in and be part of it! During Inlander Restaurant Week 2024, he helped out serving a section on a couple of our busiest nights in the history of Feast, and he rocked it! Girish is a kind, peaceful, efficient presence in the midst of our fast-paced environment. We asked him a few questions to learn more about him.

What is your regular "day job"?

I work as an IT Project Manager.

How did you come to know about Feast World Kitchen?

I actually stumbled upon World Feast Kitchen while exploring Spokane's international cuisine scene. When I visited for dinner the first time, I discovered they offered volunteering opportunities and thought it'd be a great way to spend my weekends.

What do you like about volunteering at Feast World Kitchen?

Oh, there's so much to love! The atmosphere is just incredible. Whether you're a customer or a volunteer, everyone here is so kind and supportive. It feels like a big family where everyone pitches in and helps each other out. Plus, the overall vibe is so happy and selfless—it's really something special.

Feast is special because of the people, including you Girish! We are so glad you're a member of the Feast Family!
